We are team 10, a dynamic crew from the 5th semester projects at the Hochschule Niederrhein. Our 5th-semester adventure? To explore innovative paths for sustainable fire–retardant fabric enhancement. Our mission was provided to us by Gabriel Denmark, a company specializing in creating sustainable upholstery fabrics.
Inspired by the topic "Wanderlust" and the hues of the Black Forest, we have developed a dual-layer textile: A top layer made of recycled polyester in various color combinations and a bottom layer crafted from a mix of aramid and polyamide, which guarantees protection from fire and ensures durability. This newly developed textile is highly recommended for upholstering furniture and works best for enhancing the ambiance of homes, offices, and public spaces. Thanks to the opportunities at the HSNR, our team was able to design and craft the textile in the faculty's laboratory.
