MOTIRÕ - Poncho Tupinambá

A sustainable and zero-waste knitwear collection.

The subject of investigation and inspiration for this work and the resulting collection of 100% knitted outfits is the graphic art of Brazil's indigenous people. These graphic designs are an expression of the rich culture of the original inhabitants of Brazil and can be found in body painting as well as in arts and crafts, basketry, ceramics, jewellery and printmaking.
This collection was designed with linen and cotton yarns, using Stoll's computerized flat knitting process. All garments are fully fashioned, making it a sustainable and zero-waste collection.

Designed to be a womenswear collection, the end result can be worn by both men and women, who identify themselves with the presented designs.
With specifically selected shapes and colors, this collection is intended to support the voices of the indigenous population as a statement. Therefore people wearing these pieces should be aware that this is a manifesto collection, supporting a clear cause.
