D4l – Denim for life

As part of a research project, an innovative and sustainable denim collection called D4L was developed with the aim of optimizing denim finishing processes and reducing resource consumption and emissions.

In collaboration with two fashion and two mechanical engineering companies, placed laser engravings and novel, personalized design concepts were developed. The collection consists of six outfits that tell the story of denim as genderless fashion, communicating the evolution of denim fashion through the interplay of textile design and cutting.

The outfits range from the beginnings of denim as workwear by Levi Strauss to the current consumption-driven denim industry. The final outfit features zero-waste clothing that uses an alternative joining method to sewing. The collection is the result of an optimization of denim finishing processes based on the application of laser technology and design innovations, aiming to reduce resource consumption and emissions in denim production.
